Argentina puts up obstacles on foreign films

BUENOS AIRES -- Incaa, Argentina's National Film Institute, implemented on Tuesday a scaly tax on foreign films targeted at which makes it tougher for wide Hollywood releases to crowd out local fare. Foreign films pays the tax according to screen counts, the condition department stated inside a resolution. Whenever a foreign film is launched on 40 screens in Buenos Aires or surrounding and surrounding suburbs, the place to find another from the country's 40 million people, a tax equal to 300 tickets is going to be billed. On 80 screens, the tax jumps to at least one,200 tickets and continues rising with regards to the screen count, reaching 12,000 tickets on 161 screens or even more. The tax is more compact for other areas. In an average ticket cost of 30 pesos ($7.15), the tax will run between $2,145 and $85,800 based on screen amounts. Hollywood rules 80%-85% of B.O., with large films like "Pirates from the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Rio" heading out on 120 or a lot of country's 800 screens. Gross B.O. is anticipated to increase 32% to $215 million this season in comparison with 2010. Incaa stated the screen-packing limits options for auds and causes it to be tougher for local films to create a profit. Argentina produces 100 includes a year but many don't exceed 10,000 admissions as well as obtain a commercial release, restricting share of the market at 10%, consistent with indie imports. 'Hunger Games' Sneak Peek: The Experts React!

"The Hunger Games" don't begin for several more months, but you already have your first taste of the tournament thanks to the exclusive sneak peek we showed you last night at the Video Music Awards. While the footage may have appeared scarce on details at first glance, a closer look from some of the blogosphere's most prominent "Hunger Games" experts reveals that there was a lot more to digest than some initially realized. Check out what the fans had to say about the "Hunger Games" sneak peek past the jump! The Girl On Fire Jennifer Lawrence is front and center in the "Hunger Games" footage, and by all accounts, her take on Katniss Everdeen gets a big thumbs up from the fans. "She just captured Katniss onscreen," assessed Samus Belle of Sparks Will Fly, while Kimmy West of Mockingjay.net added: "The big trait about Katniss is that she's animalistic when she hunts. You can totally tell that she's been training so much for that shot." Voice Of Reason Though Katniss is the only character you see in the footage, she's not the only one present thanks to a voice over supplied by Liam Hemsworth's Gale. "Basically, [Gale] is saying, 'You know how to hunt,' 'All they want is a good show,' 'Show them how good you are,'" West said of the voiceover, which she was in full support of. "I feel like it's a really good message to send across for the trailer because it's showing she's not a career tribute. She's not someone who wants to kill anyone; she just wants to live after this." Where's The Baker? But where we get a healthy dose of Gale, we're left completely without a trace of Josh Hutcherson as Peeta. Many fans were disappointed by his exclusion from the footage, but others are staying optimistic about his future appearances. "I think they maybe want to wait a little bit longer on [showing] Peeta to build up the excitement even more," reasoned Arianna Ruiz of Down With the Capitol. "And Gale is still a very important part of Katniss' life." Rue The Day Even though the "Hunger Games" footage is light on anyone other than Katniss and Gale, there's another hidden treat that eagle-eyed fans will surely enjoy. "Right as you see the 'Add us on Facebook' stuff, and the screen turns black, and you can hear four really high-pitched whistles, kind of like if you're not listening hard, you might miss it," West said, teasing what may or may not be a signal from Katniss' Hunger Games ally Rue. "That's really awesome. I was wondering what tune they were going to use, and it sounds really perfect for what I was thinking." Tell us what you think in the comments section and on Twitter!

The Great Food Truck Race Season 2: Meet the Trucks

Tyler Florence, Great Food Truck Race The Great Food Truck Race revs up for its second season on Sunday (10/9c on Food Network). This time, everything's bigger (well, maybe not host Tyler Florence: Eight trucks (one more than last season) will compete for $100,000, which is double the prize money from the show's first outing. The mobile food purveyors will start in Malibu, Calif., then try their hand at selling to the crowds in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, a little town called Manhattan in Kansas, Memphis, Atlanta and finally end up in Miami. Now that the competitors have had a chance to see the first season of The Great Food Truck Race, it'll be interesting to see if they've learned about marketing and resourcefulness as part of their food-selling strategy. What's on your Watchlist? Create one and add favorites like The Great Food Truck Race Let's check out the eight trucks: Cafe Con Leche (@CubanCafeMobile)- Cuban cuisine -- coffee, sandwiches and desserts -- made "con mucho amor" sounds like a delicious and solid food concept with easy-to-make products. We'll see if the catchphrase "Fuacata!" gains in popularity after the show debuts. Devilicious (@DeviliciousFood) - This San Diego-based truck specializes in twisted, adult comfort food. We don't see how you can go wrong with butter-poached lobster grilled cheese or a BBBLT. The extra B's stand for extra bacon of course. Comfort food is always a winner, but adding that bit of decadence adds fun to the experience. Hodge Podge (@HodgePodgeTruck) - This wishy-washy name and its rather hard-to-define food concept could be problematic from a marketing standpoint, but ex-Clevelander Chef Chris Hodgson has already had success with his Asian food truck Dim Sum and Den Sum, so we wouldn't count him out. Almost anything goes for this comfort food truck, and that includes topping BBQ-sauced hot dogs with bacon, purple cabbage slaw and tater tots. Korilla BBQ (@KorillaBBQ) - This mobile Korean grill already has a strong following in New York City, but can these Korean grillmasters convince less cosmopolitan palates across the nation to eat bulgogi or tofu burrittos? They may run into challenges sourcing their proteins as well -- their pork and chicken is usually hormone and antibiotic free, they're used to using certified Angus beef and they make their own tofu. Check out the rest of today's news The Lime Truck (@TheLimeTruck) - This Orange County-based truck's motto is, "Crisp. Refreshing. California Beach Cuisine." Chef Jason Quinn worked under Kerry Simon for a while and has created an ever-changing menu that has included the Yum Yum Lamb Sandwich and the Jane's Addiction Quesadilla. He's pretty wacky too, which could make for some fun marketing ploys out on the streets. Roxy's Grilled Cheese (@RoxysGrilledChz) - Chef James DeSabatino launched this truck in Boston in March. All you really need to know is that it specializes in gourmet grilled cheese. We can't see how that could go wrong unless there's no bread or cheese available. Seabirds (@SeabirdsTruck) - Also from the O.C., this truck has an uber-healthy point of view, which we support but wonder if it could run into problems finding the proper ingredients. It uses local produce and top quality, organic ingredients to make organic vegan food. Yes, you read correctly: Vegan, as in no meat, no dairy, no honey, nothing that's part of or has been produced by animals. As if that weren't a hard enough sell to the general public, the ladies also provide gluten-free and raw-food options. Will America be open to eating cashew ricotta? Sky's Gourmet Tacos (@SkysTacos) - "Southwest meets Louisiana" and "Mexican food with a splash of soul" both sound like flavorful, easy sells. The taco and burrito food-delivery system is by far the most pervasive and convenient in the food truck world and lends itself to a wide range of fillings and flavors, including vegetarian options. Which truck has the best chance? Which cuisine would you like to try? Check out a preview of Season 2 of The Great Food Truck Race (Sunday, 10/9c on Food Network):

Did This Lost Charlie Kaufman Sketch Foretell Adaptation?

Unless you’re a comedy nerd on the level of Jon Hamm, the chances are good that you don’t remember much about The Dana Carvey Show. For the uninitiated, the short-lived 1996 sketch comedy series helped launch the careers of Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Louis C.K., 30 Rock showrunner Robert Carlock, and Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman — who was apparently up to his future tricks in writing an unaired sketch about Weird Al Yankovic and his twin brother. Said Carlock about Kaufman’s Adaptation-y idea in the oral history of The Dana Carvey Show for GQ.com: I had a great relationship with Charlie. He was working on those movies at the time; he was working on Malkovich and Human Nature and one other, I think. He’s a quiet person and a private person and didn’t exactly light up the writers’ room, but he was fun to hang out with. The one sketch of his I really enjoyed was Weird Al Yankovic and his brother, Weirder Al Yankovic—who took Weird Al Yankovic’s songs and parodied them so they would turn back into the original song. And then Weirdest Al Yankovic would take those songs and make gibberish out of them. The usual meta nonsense. Sounds slightly familiar. For interested parties, Kaufman kept to himself on the eight-episode sketch comedy series, and his future success surprised at least some of his co-workers. Said Carell: “Who knew that way back then the quiet guy at the end of the hall was going to become the mad genius of cinema?” · Teats Out: An Oral History of the Rise and Fall (and Rise) of “The Dana Carvey Show” [GQ.com]

STORY: 'Glee Project' Champion Might not be alone Going to Fox Hit "The purpose of the show, it isn't a recognition contest," Woodlee stated. "It truly is someone that they'll write a personality for. That isn't something which Glee is actually about. Lots of new figures who seriously either get negative response or positive response and it is just part of the show. I do not believe that which makes it a recognition contest with America will be the right choice." Ulrich agreed and noted the Glee Project's resemblance of how Glee's casting process works.
